Eight Days to NTG's Auditions for Rumors

The Nashua Theatre Guild is thrilled to announce auditions for its April 2010 show, Rumors by Neil Simon directed by Mike Wood:  Wednesday, January 20  6:30 - 9:00 & Saturday, January 23  1:00 - 3:00  both in the East Wing of the Nashua Public Library.   Rehearsals will begin the week of February 8 for two nights a week until the middle of March when a third rehearsal per week is added.  As auditions will consist of cold readings; knowledge of the script will be helpful.  Monologues will not necessary and need not be prepared.  Rumors is a hilarious, fast paced  door-slamming farce; actors should be prepared to be off book a full month before the show goes up as much of the physical humor and comedic bits will be choreographed without the scripts in hand.  (Rumors opens April 22nd, actors should be prepared to be off book by March 22nd.)  Showtimes will be 8pm Thursday April 22nd, Friday April 23rd and Saturday April 24th with 2pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday the 25th.  If there are any questions, please contact the director at mikewoodnh@comcast.net. 

Please know that Rumors is filling the spot in our season previously occupied by Sam Shepard's "True West" directed by Jim Murphy.  Due to circumstances beyond his control Professor Murphy is not going to be able to stage this show this season.  NTG hopes that sometime in the near future that we revisit "True West" and bring this modern classic to Nashua.

Synopsis: America's premier comic playwright delights audiences with this out and out funny offering. Four couples are at the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The party never begins because the host has shot himself in the head (it's only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing. His lawyer's cover story gets progressively more difficult to sustain as the other guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told what about whom. Doors slam and hilarity abounds as the couples get more and more crazed. Rumors is a divine, crowd pleasing farce!
