American Journalero
Working Theater LOA-NYC $320/week minimum.

Director: Victor Maog
1st rehearsal: February 15, 2010. Runs March 4 – 14 at the Abingdon Theater Complex’s Dorothy Strelsin Theater.
This is a “first stage production”, not open to critics. Meant to help the playwright develop the play further. Play is a humorous and poignant look at a group of Queens, NY day laborers waiting to be picked up for work, and their collision with two inept civilian vigilantes fashioning themselves on the Minuteman Project, a citizen group originally organized to patrol the US southern border in an effort to keep illegal immigrants out.
Seeking:
Mark: Caucasian man, 30s. Laid-back and down-to-earth by nature, but his recent layoff has made him a bit more eager to get involved and be included in something. New to the Minuteman Project. A content union guy.
Toby: Caucasian man, late 30s – mid 40s Minuteman from Staten Island. Politically aware, and a loyal Republican. Enthralled by the military, although he never served. Loyal union guy.
Marcelo: Hispanic (Panamanian) man, 20s. Day laborer. Soft-spoken, with a heavy face filled with worry about his family’s journey across the border.
Luis: Hispanic (Mexican) man, 30s. Day laborer. A bit uptight and unfiltered. Was a small-town schoolteacher back home.
Montezuma: Caucasian (Belarusian) man, mid – late 40s. Day laborer. Never married. Enjoys his drink. Has traveled the world looking for work.
Michigan: Hispanic (Honduran) man, mid 40s. Day laborer. Every bit a construction-site foreman, with a chip on his shoulder. Worked construction back home.
