Nylon Theatre Company and Saving Grace Productions will be holding auditions on January 25th and 27th for a workshop of Trouble, a new rock musical. This will be the musical’s first U.S. workshop. Trouble has had previous workshops in London.
Music and Lyrics by Ella Grace
Book and Direction by Michael Alvarez
Musical Direction by Alex Lawrence
The workshop dates are February 1-3 from 10-6 in Manhattan. All actors must have strong pop/rock voices, excellent comic timing and the ability to work/learn quickly. Reading music is a plus, but not required. As we are gearing for a future production, we are looking for actors who have the potential to grow with the piece.
Synopsis: Trouble is in the air. Bad boy James is hitting complicated with his love-struck girlfriend Hannah, while secretly rendezvousing with sexy Sarah. Sarah is best friends with brooding funny man, who is getting too close to his teacher, Mr. Andrews. Meanwhile, star-crossed lovers Nick and Jen are making plans for the future, but Jen has been carrying a secret. 6 lives. 24 hours. Forever Changed.
SEEKING:
JAMES- to play 17, exudes a magnetic animalistic charisma that makes everyone fall in love with him, can be selfish and come off as a jerk but is loyal to his friends. A “bad-boy”. Perhaps surfer/skater-ish.
HANNAH-to play 17, quirky and slightly neurotic, will go to great lengths to stay with her boyfriend, wholesomely and uniquely pretty and can be seen as a push-over but shows great strength in stressful situations
JOE-to play 17, funny and somewhat brooding with a sharp wit and tongue, shy but grows into himself as he takes a chance with his teacher
SARAH-to play 17, viewed as the bad girl, exudes a sassy and confident persona but inside wants to be loved, sexy and strong
NICK-to play 17, an intellectual idealist in love with the idea of love (and Shakespeare), a tad bit awkward, grows into his manhood, must possess a child-like vulnerability
JEN-to play 17, has the energy of a fairy with the soul of a warrior, never the victim and always the fighter when she discovers she has a year left to live, must possess vulnerability and an ethereal look and quality
MR. ANDREWS-to play early 20’s, fresh faced English teacher, a little goofy but also conflicted when trying to resist a crush he develops on one of his students
