- Tashan Barclay was born in St.Mary, Jamaica and began her career as an artist since moving to the United States. August Martin High School was the first place she received a taste of the arts and communications (moving pictures) was her major. After her second year of study she knew she had a love for music,painting and drawing. After graduating from high school she received honors from the school and a gold medal in art from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tashan studied Liberal arts for two years in college and two years apprenticeship under the couture designer Gullermo Martin Brunstein. There after took a break to travel South America and visited places like Rio De Janero, Sau Paolo, Buenos Aires and of course her home country Jamaica. After her travels she realized her dream as a DJ and actress. Tashan currently featured on “Whatz up NY’s” weekly show which airs on channel 73 every Sunday at 7:30pm. Tashan alias as a Dj is Dj Tash and host a weekly reggae (Dub Wise) show on Rasfm.com every thursday 4-6pm. Tashan continues to seek new avenues to demonstrate her talents.
